These images are from an outside broadcast at Kentish Town Community Centre, used by bbc5live as part of their publicity material for the programme. Three women were interviewed about how they had been affected by knife crime. (see images for details) Their stories were devastating, but the women were not diminished by their experiences. It was impossible not to admire the dignity and strength of these women in the face of such terrible loss. I drew several images, including a portraits of Benna Waite and TAzzz who are both spoken word artists. I made a connection with Benna. He saw my images on instagram and we started talking and have since gone on to collaborate on a piece of animated poetry about knife crime for the canary uk.

BOOK REVIEW
Pam McIlroy @pamreader
I came home last Thursday evening to find this graphic novel in a package on the mat. When I picked up the parcel I was curious, I knew it was a book but thought I was too tired to read it and then I opened up the parcel. As soon as Beth’s little face looked up at me I forgot everything else, sat down, turned to the first page and didn’t stop reading until I reached the end. At which point I sobbed.
This graphic novel is one of the most beautiful expressions of love I’ve ever read.

SWIMMING LESSONS
There have been many hot and not so joyous hours, sitting at the side of the pool watching my children learn to swim.
This page is for my daughter who managed, with the bribe of spicy crisps, to stop pushing other children into the pool.
Hopefully this gives a better sense of the image, the last post looked a bit flat.
